A Young north-east swimmer is poised to achieve his ambition of raising at least £1,000 to fight cancer.
Plucky Ryan Kaczmarek, 13 of Banff took part in this year’s Banff-Macduff bay swim for UCAN, the north-east’s urological cancer charity.
His supporters have already stumped up more than £900 and more money has still to come in.
He has also been guaranteed a donation from the Celtic Charity Fund, the charitable arm of Celtic FC. Ryan who is a Celtic supporter decided to raise money for UCAN after former Hoops player John Hartson was diagnosed with cancer.
Ryan entered the gruelling Banff Bay swim on Saturday 8 August and finished in 25 min 34sec.
Ryan said “I was pleased as I managed to be 13th out of almost 50 swimmers and beat my personal best by two minutes. I would like to thank everybody who sponsored me”.
