Page 1 of 4 To help UCAN highlight the prevalence of Testicular, Prostate, Kidney and Bladder cancer in our region get On Yer Bike and take part in the inaugural UCAN MoG-JOG.
MoG-JOG is a 433 mile cycle ride from the Mull of Galloway to John O'Groats.
You don't have to be a trained cyclist to take part in the MOG JOG, the following is an extract from the Justgiving page of two of our partipants, Graham Reid and Robin Hewitt:
"In November 2009 we took it upon ourselves to take part in a 50 mile charity cycle. Despite finishing three hours behind the other participants and missing out on the complimentary bacon rolls, our inner cycle demons were unleashed. "We must strive for physical perfection" said Robin to Graham after a pint and a cigarette. "Indeed," said Graham, "and by the way its your round".
And here is the result - The UCAN MoG JoG - a 433 mile cycle over four days from the Mull of Galloway at the southern tip of Scotland, to John O' Groats in the far north. Day 1 takes us from Galloway to New Lanark; day 2 to Pitlochry; day 3 to Invergordon; and day 4 to John O' Groats.
Sticking entirely to back roads, the route will take us through some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland - the moors of Ayrshire and Lanarkshire; the Forth Road Bridge; the rolling hills of Perthshire; the rugged expanse of the Cairngorm; and the wilderness of the North East Highlands. We can avoid traffic, pedestrians and even potholes (hopefully!) but we cannot avoid hills - make no mistake, this is a serious challenge for both of us."
