Help required from us by NHS Scotland

Postby lpennet » Wed May 23, 2012 11:13 am

Dear All,
I have copied this information letter for all of you who might be interested(all of you i hope) to read.
Can I please ask if you are interested to call Uzma directly.
This is a great opportunity for us here in Grampian to have an input into the national information web site.
This will only be a one off meeting.
Local venue yet to be arranged.
Regards
Linda

My name is Uzma Aslam and I am the Manager in S.E Scotland for the Tailored Information Programme in Scotland (TIPS) within NHS24.

TIPS is based on improving the experience of cancer patients by providing cancer information at the time, place and format that support the cancer care pathway.
The initial “tailored information for the people of Scotland” (TIPS) project sought to introduce tailored information using the model developed by the NHS Choices Information Prescription System (IPS).

However recent developments within NHS Choices in England, has precipitated the strategic decision that NHS inform develop its own tailored information system for Scotland

We have therefore focussed on taking the learning from NHS England, including observations from patients and healthcare professionals on what could be replicated from the NHS England model, but developed in a way that best fits the Health care context in Scotland. Our overarching aim to provide a simple, accessible approach to accessing cancer information that reflects where the patient is on their treatment pathway remains the same.

However, the process of delivery will be within NHS inform which is far better for the longer term sustainability since it will form an integral part of NHS Informs national patient information and support service.

NHS 24 has developed a TIPS prototype. I am looking for patients and carers to be part of a User Involvement Group (UIG). The aim of the UIG would be to give you an opportunity to give us your feedback on the TIPS prototype which will reflect the new approach.

The session would last for 2-3 hours and involve reviewing and ‘testing’ out the TIPS prototype. Your feedback will help us to see what works well with TIPS and what we could possibly improve.

The UIG session would take place at the end of June 2012. The dates shall be fully confirmed by early June.

If you would like to take part, please contact me.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards

Uzma Aslam
