Travel Insurance - Specialist Providers

Postby pmannion » Thu Nov 01, 2012 5:27 pm

Forum member 'holly' has passed on some information regarding specialist providers for travel insurance.

You can see the full details on our website:

http://www.ucanhelp.org.uk/get-information/travel-insurance-specialist-providers

We hope this will be helpful to you, and it may also assist others if you can feed back to the forum via this thread, the results of any enquiries that you make. We can then build up an accurate picture over time on issues such as responsiveness, reliability etc. as well as pricing.

Thanks

Since my renal cancer, seven years ago, I have been acutely aware of the massive increase in travel insurance premiums for those with existing health conditions. Being retired, I am also a member of a national association for fellow retired persons from my profession and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this association had an annual travel insurance policy with AXA Insurance which had no restrictions at all on almost all health conditions - the only proviso is that you are NOT travelling against the advice of your doctor. Currently, the annual premium for worldwide travel is £165 per couple and covers any numbers of trips, both abroad and in the UK. If you are fortunate enough to be a member of a large professional body with significant membership, it might be worth asking your association to approach AXA for quotes for a similar scheme for you and your fellow members.
